Bonfire Night Safety Advice

Good evening residents,

As many people across our community celebrate Bonfire Night, we would like to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable evening.

Please take a few moments to follow these important safety tips:

🎆 Firework Safety • Only purchase fireworks from reputable retailers and ensure they meet UK safety standards.
• Read and follow the instructions carefully.
• Keep fireworks in a closed box and light them one at a time.
• Never return to a firework once it has been lit.
• Keep children and pets at a safe distance.

🔥 Bonfire Safety • Build bonfires away from buildings, fences, sheds, trees and overhead cables.
• Check bonfires thoroughly for wildlife, especially hedgehogs, before lighting.
• Never use flammable liquids such as petrol to start or revive a fire.
• Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby in case of emergency.

🏠 Home Security • If you are going out to an organised display, ensure your home is secure by locking all doors and windows.
• Leave a light on if you will be returning after dark.

🐶 Look After Pets • Keep pets indoors where possible.
• Close curtains and provide a quiet, comfortable space to help reduce stress from loud noises.

🚗 Be Considerate • Drive carefully and be aware of increased pedestrian activity during the evening.
• Be mindful of neighbours, young children, elderly residents and animals when using fireworks.

If you witness anti-social behaviour, dangerous use of fireworks, or any suspicious activity, please report it through the appropriate channels. In an emergency, always call 999.
